TachMinder is an informational tool only. It is not a substitute for a certified A&P mechanic or IA. Only certificated mechanics can approve return-to-service. Always verify Airworthiness Directive data with the FAA AD database (drs.faa.gov). TachMinder does not certify airworthiness.

Scope of Service

TachMinder is a supplemental maintenance tracking and advisory tool designed for general aviation aircraft owners and operators flying under FAA 14 CFR Part 91. The Service provides:

  • Maintenance schedule tracking and reminders
  • Airworthiness Directive (AD) compliance tracking
  • AI-powered maintenance advice and document parsing
  • Logbook entry management
  • Oil analysis trend monitoring

Not a Substitute for Professional Judgment

TachMinder does not replace the knowledge, training, or judgment of a certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic, Inspection Authorization (IA) holder, or any other qualified aviation professional.

Aircraft maintenance decisions must be made by appropriately certificated individuals in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations. TachMinder cannot and does not:

  • Approve return-to-service for any aircraft or component
  • Certify airworthiness
  • Sign off maintenance entries
  • Replace required inspections (annual, 100-hour, progressive)
  • Override or supersede manufacturer maintenance manuals or service bulletins

Airworthiness Directive (AD) Data

AD information displayed in TachMinder is provided for convenience and tracking purposes only. While we strive for accuracy, AD data in TachMinder may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrectly matched to your specific aircraft configuration.

Always verify AD applicability and compliance status with the official FAA AD database at drs.faa.gov.

AI-Generated Content

TachMinder uses artificial intelligence (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to provide maintenance advice, parse documents, and generate summaries. AI-generated content:

  • May contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies
  • Should not be relied upon as the sole basis for maintenance decisions
  • Does not constitute professional aviation maintenance advice
  • Must be verified by a qualified A&P mechanic before acting on any recommendation

Record-Keeping

TachMinder is a supplemental record-keeping tool. It does not replace the official aircraft maintenance records required by 14 CFR 91.417. Aircraft owners and operators remain solely responsible for maintaining complete and accurate official records.

Tach Time vs. Hobbs Time

TachMinder tracks both tachometer (tach) time and Hobbs meter time. These are different measurements:

  • Tach time measures engine RPM-adjusted time (slower than real time at lower RPM settings)
  • Hobbs time measures actual elapsed clock time when the engine or master switch is on

Users are responsible for entering correct values and understanding which measurement applies to their maintenance intervals.

Limitation of Liability

Preflight AI LLC shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or death arising from reliance on information provided by TachMinder, including but not limited to AI-generated advice, AD tracking, maintenance schedules, or any other content within the Service.

The ultimate responsibility for aircraft airworthiness rests with the aircraft owner and operator as defined in 14 CFR 91.403.
